Can you post pics of the other side of your room and also a closeup of your bedding and window treatments?

Why not 2 matching area rugs on both sides of the bed? It's a shame to pay for almost a whole rug that's hidden under the bed.

Nightstands are 34" wide with plenty of breathing space between the bed and chests and wall. The wall with the headboard, windows, chests is 14' wide. I was thinking of a 8' x 10' or 9 x 12' turned perpendicular would reach under bed and give a rug walk way on both sides along with some rug to be in front of bed.... But I am unsure what kind of rug and what size/s to get for the space. I even thought about another 5 x 7' rug for down near the chair to create a reading/watching TV space. But I don't know?

What size do you think would work if I got one for each side of bed and for foot of bed (which I could use - not exactly at foot of bed but near window for sitting area?

Kathy, your bedroom has a lot going for it. It's large with beautiful floors and a gorgeous bed. To me there are 2 distracting elements- the plates over the bed and the quilt at the end of the bed. They both detract from the beauty of the room. Would you consider removing them? Perhaps move the red TV cabinet to the wall opposite the bed (to the right of the bathroom door). Then mount the TV above it. Lastly a more neutral paint color would really let your fabrics and accessories shine.

Thank you Kim. I am planning to replace the tv cabinet - and yes I can hang it anywhere. The room is up for all those changes you suggest - as the only elements that will be kept: the bed, the hardwood, the drapes and woven woods. These are the things I love. Everything else up for changes. I have selected a paint color that is more neutral and less gold - but still in the beige family. In fact, Its SW Basket Beige but at 50%. Similar to Ramie (also an option, I have the samples to test them now that the Hardwood is down and the bathroom almost complete.

I was thinking of a natural colored rug - but the ones I keep finding are Jute and that does not sound pleasant under foot. And yes, I tend to overdo things with color...... :) And the notion of more than one rug has thrown me into another space of indecision. One rug (9 x 12) which I fear is too large ending 12" from the edge of the walls near the bed) or 8 x 10 under the bed .....OR.... two small rugs on the side of the bed with a 5 x 7 or 8 x 10 near the window for the sitting area.

Wish I could decide on the PB rug. Premier day at PB is excellent value and I love their rug quality.

Oh and THANK everyone for their input. I am loving the choices and although its confusing ( 8 x 10 vs 9 x 12 vs 2 small next to bed with larger rug near window) - I appreciate everyone's input so very very much!

Kathy, when I'm trying to decide on sizes, masking tape is my friend. I tape out various dimensions on the floor or walls and it helps me visualize what fits best. Personally I tend to like a single rug under a bed and in your room I like that idea more than 3 rugs since it might look cluttered. I'd opt for a solid neutral with very little or no pattern. Can you post a pic of the paint color? That will be important in order to pick a rug.

I just bought the same rug that Flo pictured in cream on cream off of amazon for my living room. Its very pretty. So soft and dense.

Ramie SW paint color is close to the color - or I'll use SW Basket Beige at 50% (to lighten it by half) which ends up to be very similar to Ramie. Its a specific color because the bathroom's tile is in this color range and I can't get too far away from it. The bathroom tile all redone in the past 2 weeks. Cream colored floors (Emser Parquet Cream) in bathroom.

Here is one that is light and subtle. Don't know if it would go with your new paint color or not. You could order a small one and see if you like it and if you do, order a large one also or another small one.

I'm kinda leaning towards this - medallion or not. I'm thinking if I remove the plates over bed (I covered it in photoshop) and remove/replace the quilt with a solid I wonder if this is a good option.....? Or not? I like it - and easily works with my paint.

BTW - I do love the small patterned solids. Love texture. However all the rugs I'm finding with texture are jute or sisal and I'm not a fan for the bedroom. Here I need comfort. Thanks again!

Love! Super easy to get me to pick the red persian. I adore red. Worry about the moss green chests on the sides of the bed.....(Would we have Christmas year round?) but gosh I love red Persian wool rugs....

While I like that rug it doesn't work with your drapery, quilt, nightstands. It's adding a whole other pattern and color palette which will clash.

I think your rug should have more gold tones to work in the room and I have revised your plate layout because you have too many above the bed.

I have an 8x10 under my king bed and it's just about right. I wish it was a bit bigger but I agree that a 9x12 would be too big. The PB rug is pretty but the majority of the medallion won't show under the bed.

This is 7'10 X 11- it would give you an extra 6 inches on each side.
