I suppose it's one nice hummus layer.....

On a new flower bed prepped last year, lotsa compost followed by mulch just laid ontop as the soil was not in the greatest shape. This time of the year, where a good majority of the mulch has broken down. Anyhow, was de-weeding the garden - just blown away on how nice and airy that hummus layer is.

Off topic or on, but said effect on areas with pooling water - I've definately observed in years on past . Mulched heavily, and over 2 years time, areas where used to pool water during extreme rain shows no pooling.
