The problem with that room is that everything came from a décor store or online.

It looks like a waiting room, not a home.

There is no YOU in that room (besides two insignificant photos on the end table). Where's your story? When friends visit, where are the interesting items from your life that spark conversation?

The mirror thing is pointless and the 'wall art' is insipid. That stuff is commercial, mass-produced, lowest common denominator pap produced in Chinese and Vietnamese sweat shops. That's not what a home should be.

Add pillow or two with color from artwork. Take out side table on left side and put large floor plant. Add magazines, books to cocktail table. Hang mirror above fireplace to give it space to breathe.

I think it’s a very pretty room! Love the beautiful windows with the garden view of all that greenery. I think maybe because you have so many neutrals and a lot of hard surfaces with your leather sofas and the glass (or lucite) coffee and end tables it feels cold. How about a nice big tropical plant in one corner instead of one of the end tables. Adding natural wood tones helps to warm a room up so why not switch out the other end table or the coffee table for something with some natural wood tones to warm things up. It also helps a room feel less like a showroom when all the pieces don’t match. You could add a tray to the coffee table with some books and decorative accessories in some warm brushed gold tones too. If you could afford to move one of the sofas I would put two occasional chairs in an upholstered fabric in front of the window to make it feel cozier. You’ve got the beginnings of a beautiful space! It’s all about layering.

All your selections blend into one another. More contrast could provide more interest. The glass and leather are both fairly slick. Changing the tables to another material and using round tables that so that the table don't appear to be squeezed into the space would help.

You’ve done a good job so far, now just need to take it to next level. To me I feel the room is needing to be more formal. The curtains should be fuller and taking then above the upper windows would add to that wow factor, like this:

I’m not feeling the rug in this room, it seems casual to me. Maybe something sleeker with a bit of sheen to it. Also think a great piece of art would be better over the FP.

Curtains- move to above the transom windows in a warmer color or texture To give height and color.

Furniture is too matched. All tables and the sofas are a set. Remove the loveseat and place cozier club chairs ( w rectangular arms to stay more modern check restoration hardware) with texture to soften the leather sofa.

remove the single gray chair. Seems an after thought and just put there. Add a bench if you need more seating. You can place a console behind the sofa instead of one of the side tables.

the artwork is behind the room, place something pleasing and large to compete with the windows. Give more presence to the fireplace.

rug may be too large. Furniture needs to touch it at least but to close to the fireplace. Place a rug with color to ground the space.

You have great bones with the windows and fireplace to start just don’t have things may h. Different woods, fabrics, materials and periods with a fiddle leaf fig in the corner to bring in the green outside and something living inside.

The layout is the obstacle; you could improve this room's "feel" w/rearranging furniture and decor.

1. Swap your art to over the FP making one focal point (vs current three).

2. Turn your rug 90 degrees, so diamond pattern is parallel w/FP wall.

3. Remove table lamps (too short).

4. Move sofa to face FP and loveseat in front of windows (creating L shaped).

5. Position the large floor lamp in corner/left side windows, between your newly arranged sofa/loveseat.

6. Move chair to right of FP.

7. Decide on glass tables (and adding decor) after these bigger changes.

you need color, everything is a boring gray white beige

1. Pull the furniture closer together. It looks too far spaced to use the coffee table.

2. If you can, replace the coffee table with a glass top, metal base table, the base being brass or gold tone. It will warm up the room. Find a couple of accessories with a similar metal finish to help connect the table to the rest of the room.

3. Pick a color from the painting. Your art has at least three colors. Pick the third color, and use that to find pillows, and a throw. Use the second color to find accessories, like vases and bowls, for the mantel and tables.

4. Shop your home, for accessories that you love. Don’t worry if you think they won’t go with the room, contrast is what makes a room interesting. If you have an old item, of any function, it can be wall art, or if large, propped in a corner. Think of a different way to use/display it,

Agree with others this space needs some color! Get yourself a big beautiful oriental rug ... an all over design, not a center medallion. And change the coffee table to something round. Can still have a glass top. Accent pillows in colors drawn from rug and painting. Big colorful art over mantle.

We would really love to see the sofa facing the fireplace and the art moved to over the fireplace. Then adding fuller window treatments and glass tables with metal frames might really help as well. We also think adding some pillows with colors from your painting will help make everything pop.

Get a lighter color curtains and hang them higher
Get nice matching modern lamps for each side table.
If you put fun throw pillows and a throw blanket for your couch

Texture. More texture in pillows and throw along with wall hangings will do the most.
