Used Crock Pots

Have had no luck finding used crock pots/bread makers as suggested by other posters, and feel I must purchase new ones.

Please give me your best suggestions for t&t appliances. TIA

West bend like this one, they come in various sizes.

I had one I got when we got married and I was still using it regularly till the flood. I ordered another one just like it.

Oh, and for used check amazon warehouse deals - they have a ton of Instant Pots and even a Zojirushi Virtuoso at the moment.

My West Bend bean pot style was more than 30 years old. It still heated and cooked fine but the porcelain interior of the pot was getting pretty worn. A very basic model, it had Low, and High. Not even off or on, plugged in, it was on. I was working at a hardware/appliance store way back then and the West Bend salesman gave them new and boxed to all of us in the store - I didn't even pay for it and it served me well for decades ;0)

I replaced it with the Fagor Multi Cooker for just under $100 - you may not be interested in something with that many functions (but I certainly enjoy it).

My brother in law has been bringing things like chili, stews, his sauerkraut and sausage, to family dinners in a Hamilton Beach Stay or Go.

What he brings is always good, he seems to be getting great use from it.

Even if you don’t go with a multi cooker I would make sure to get a crock pot with a sauté feature. It is really convenient to be able to seat meat in the crockpot rather than having another dish to clean.

I got a Rival slow cooker as a wedding gift in 1990. I still use it. It has 0 bells and whistles. Just low and high cook. I want one that I can set to turn on while I'm already at work but won't buy one until mine breaks down. Mine won't break down.

Look at some of the YouTube videos using the Instant Pot. Pressure cooking is more versatile in many ways. Two video channels. Here. and Here.

I have a Zojirushi bread maker that is easily a dozen old by now, and still working great. I use it mostly for pizza dough.

Oh, you need to be at my neighbor's living estate sale this weekend....she has both. and are like new for $2.00 for crock pot and $5.00 for bread machine.

I see them at garage sales more than thrift shops. If I see either at a thrift shop, they are so old and worn out they needed to go in the trash and they want too much. I will see like new ones at garage sales quite often. But crock pots are cheap even brand new...I would buy brand new crock pots and if it doesn't work right, just take it back. I wouldn't waste my money on a bread machine. Maybe ask around to your friends and family and ask them if they have one sitting around not being used...someone probably does. They aren't all they are cracked up to be!

I found the Ninja 4-in-1 when I was looking for to replace my old crock pot https://www.qvc.com/Ninja-4-in-1-Accutemp-Cooking-System-w-Auto-iQ-%26-Recipe-Book.product.K46588.html

I have the older version of this, with no programmed options. I love it! I can brown, slow cook, steam, sautee and even make cinnamon rolls in it. Very versatile and easy to clean. (you can make 4 payments of $30 if it helps).

I had a bread machine that I used maybe 20 times, I hated how bulky it was and loud! I threw it away because it needed a large space to even just store it.

Zojirushi is by far the BEST bread machine I've ever owned! Paid $7.50ea for 2 of them used....but I've never found another one in a thrift shop. (I sold 1 on Ebay).

My Hamilton Beach Flexcooker crockpot is also fantastic! It's digital with 3 heat levels. That's important some crock pots's just boil. It also has the locking lid for carrying it. I paid $30(Amazon, 3 years ago/new). Hamilton Beach

Edited to say: Be sure it has a timed setting, so it will shut off by itself. I found THAT to be really important. I have a layered tortilla recipe, if it goes over 6 hours it's awful. The same with cooking chicken, I don't want it falling off the bone.

Also , fyi...I got rid of my old crock pot because the ceramic glaze wears off the insert....makes it hard to clean. Not sure how sanitary it was after that either.
