I've never been there. My mom was supposed to come up to visit last month and we were planning on going to Mt. Auburn Cemetery and Arnold Arboretum over a couple of days....finally!! She's in NC, so cancelled due to the hurricane. She's heading up in a few weeks and we still plan to go even though it will be early-November. We figure there's got to be interest all year long there. Looking forward to hearing what everyone has to say about it.

I have not been to Mt. Auburn, though I have always wanted to go.

I have been to Arnold Arboretum, a number of years ago. I am a plant nerd and loved it. I went in late spring or early summer. There were a range of bamboos, a collection of bonsai, and a world class collection of woody plants, including some really old, mature trees that were rare when planted, so are among the oldest of that type in the US or even the world.

There were collections of different cultivars of a particular genus or species such as lilacs or crabapples, etc. so you can compare and get a sense of those you find appealing.

And along with all this amazing plant material (we ran out of time before running out of Arboretum) were folks strolling and picnicking, sunbathers, couples being affectionate, and all the other activities one sees in a large city park. I would recommend it if you are like me a lover of woody plants.

I love the Arnold Arboretum! We are lucky enough to only be 40 minutes away, though.

i'M only 20 minutes away. Anyone who visits there has an automatic invitation to lunch or tea at my house. I haven't been to either place in years. Mt.Auburn is lovely. I'd like to live there after I die.

I love the Arnold Arboretum. I've been there during Lilac week and that's a treat, but the most memorable time I was there, was in the fall. They have some of the most beautiful mature trees and the foliage was memorable. I live about a half hour out of Boston and I wished I lived closer, I'd visit often. I'd like to see it in winter after a snow.
