Not glass mosaic. Depends on style of cabs and the rest of the space what backsplash will be best. Please figure out how to post a pic.

The question is not whether you will get tired of a mosaic tile backsplash. The question is which of the two do you really like? Forget about trends, what's in and what's out, what is best for resale, what's dated, etc., etc. Select the one YOU like better, and you will most likely be happy for a long time.

If it were my home, I'd select white "subway" tile. It's my preference and I don't really care what anyone else thinks. I don't care if random faceless people on the internet think it's overused or outdated. I've always liked it and probably always will, so it works for me.

What works for you??

Here is an image of the backsplash. Our cabinets will be similar to these but custom maple with a dark walnut stain. This is going on our wet bar in the basement. My concern is can I pull off beige tones in the rest of the room if there are some grey tones in the backsplash? My other choice is keeping it simple by using glossy white subway tile. I appreciate all feedback. Thank you!

Will you cabinets just be lowers or will they be uppers and lowers?

a lot of people have lower cabinets and just shelves above, so they do mirrored backsplash and glass shelves which nicely reflects their glassware and liquor bottles and any collectibles they put on the shelves.

It will be upper and lowers Including a stainless steel refrigerator, stainless steel sink and built in microwave.

Wow, that is really a mini-kitchen, not just a wet bar.

Subway tile will be timeless; glass mosaic will be dated some day. Also be aware that glass mosaic can be a tricky install. Since you can see all the way through the tile to the back, sometimes you can have defects showing through, like mastic trowel marks or part of the backing (or tears in the backing). My daughter had some glass mosaic installed in one of her bathrooms and, while it looks nice superficially, after you stare at it for a while you start to see little defects

Basement bars are supposed to be fun. Timeless isn't fun!

You seem concerned with matching, as you should be. Wait until everything else is in, or you at least have a door sample, and then put them together and decide.

And there are things you can do that are fun, but less permanent... ;-)

I agree with Fori. Wait until it is all together in your home lighting.

I also think you have more choices than white subway if you choose not to use that mosaic.

Fori is correct! It's a bar, it should be a fun space where you can make a statement. White subway tiles are not the way to go here!
