Empty family room needs help

Hi. I just moved into a new home and having a problem with selecting seating for the family room. Here are pics of the area. Leaning toward transitional furniture and I have a 2 1/2 year old. I think a sectional would be good but they all seem so bulky and would take over the space.
The wall with the square opening is 120” and the other wall with entry to left is about 110”. Help me please.

I would almost always choose two sofas or a sofa and chairs over a sectional. You have so much more versatility, and can walk between the seating that way.

Hi again and thanks. Here is a layout. There are only two walls where the sofas or sectional can go. No where to walk to in between sofas.

With your current configuration of the TV/fireplace I think a sectional in the corner is your best option. I would use a round coffee table with it since the front of the seating area is a walkway. It's hard to tell without dimensions, but another option might be to put the TV on the big blank wall, float a sofa with it's back to the island and chair on its right, and then put two chairs grouped together in front of the fireplace, with the walkways maintained between and behind the two seating areas.
