Recommendation for kitchen lighting

We've remodeled our kitchen and trying to find the right set of lights for over our small island and the "dining" table. The open room has recessed lighting in the kitchen area but none in the dining area. Think the ceiling is like 8.5-9 ft, the island is 48" by 30", the "dining" area is about 100" by 100". I consider the kitchen island lighting to be mostly decorative, while the dining lighting needs to be functional too. In the pictures, you can ignore the location of the lighting boxes in the ceiling...they have been centered to the island and table area.

House overall is contemporary style. Was considering something like the Modern Forms Metric over the island but I want to get something that complements it. But open to any suggestions!

I agree with not needing a light over the island as for the dining area I will try to find something that will reflect light up to the ceiling and down on the center of the table yet glowing from the outside, in a rectangular shape echoing the dining table, kind of like this

I actually think you don't need a light over the island. It might block the open feel of the space and block the view of your fab backsplash.

Thanks both. I'm hesitant to go with bronze since we have used brushed nickel throughout. Kim- Thank you! We love the backsplash. I guess we could put a single focused recessed light in there?

It also appears some undercab led lights would increase the lumens for your task zones.

Noah, We have this Nelson saucer light hanging above our kitchen table. It comes in several sizes and could look amazing over your table.

I think the light you have picked is actually perfect. I'd say the island is too small for two separate lights, and you also want something that won't be difficult to look around since it's in the middle of the room. Your light checks those, and is also just an interesting piece. I think it would look great as a centerpiece to your kitchen!

Anthony, I really like that concept and dead on about the lighting needs. Anything that could look contemporary and perhaps complement that Metric light.
