Decorator White on trim and Linen White on walls. All about balance.

I would be really subtle but why not?

I'm thinking about the exact same thing. Decorators White for all the walls and Chantilly Lace for trim or Super White for trim. What did you end up doing? Pictures?

I actually decided to go with Decorator's White both walls and trim (ultimate flat on walls, pearl on trim) based on feedback from my painters and some other forums. I was told that the difference between Chantilly Lace and Decorator's White would be so minimal that it wouldn't be worth it and could look 'off'. Painting is going on as we speak... I can definitely post pictures when done :) Good luck with your decision, choosing white is so hard!!!

I totally agree! My friends don't understand why it's so hard, but then again they've never done a whole house remodel. Well, we've sprayed they entire house in decorators white. I actually really like the color and am happy so far. Now it's time for the trim and doors. I'll send pictures as well with whatever we end up doing. I know there are many of us out here dealing with this problem if not very similar problems. :)

@g_wells what happened? My painters are coming next week and I have to decide if I go ALL Chantilly lace (color of my kitchen cabinets) OR if I go with Chantilly lace on cabinets/ceilings/trim and Decorator's white on my walls....Are you happy doing all one color in different finishes? I have heard this too but we have 14-20 foot ceilings in our great room and entry and I am worried with SO much space it will be too white and not enough contrast between walls/ceiling/cabinets/trim. Thanks!!

Hello!!! I am really happy with how it turned out. I have zero regrets and I love the white so much. I LOVE IT!! We went with Decorators White on both walls and trim as I mentioned above (Ultimate Finish on walls, Pearl on trim) and I think the contrast is perfect, it's there but subtle. I do have some reno regrets but our paint choice is definitely not one of them. It's definitely a cool white but you can tell in the pictures below that it doesn't come across as stark at all.

My cabinets are Stonington Gray - so can't really speak from experience about how it works with white cabinets but I am a convert to clean and white so I'd say go for it. Our floors are quite warm and as soon as your layer furniture in the white acts like a canvas and really complements everything.

Thank you so much, I am a white convert - I can't imagine ever painting my main living space a colour (and this covered up a dark, browny taupe...not sure what I was thinking with that).

Hi - did anyone end up doing Chantilly lace for trims/ceilings and walls with decorator's white? I also am concerned if using different colors for the trims and walls it may look off. If anyone did, it'd be great to see some photos or advice! Thanks!!

Hello! I ended up doing all decorator’s white - with semi gloss on trim. I’m very happy with it. It’s definitely a bit of a cool white but my floors and lighting is warm.

thank you for replying so quick! I think I am leaning towards now just doing a full decorator's white as well (we have very warm brown hardwood and beams) did you by any chance also paint your kitchen walls decorator's white as well? if so, do you have any photos you don't mind sharing?

@amberkharrison what did you decide to do with your paint color? We are remodeling our kitchen and our cabinets are Chantilly Lace and I am trying to decide if I want to use it for the ceiling and walls as well.

Hey Sarah! I ended up using Chantilly Lace for everything in diff sheens.

I wouldn’t pair these two together. There isn’t enough contrast in Chroma.

Decorator’s White is likely to look more greyed in comparison to Chantilly Lace. A more streamlined option would be to choose one and just paint the trim a different sheen.

@Sarah Long: I am planning to do the same. Trim- Chantilly Lace and wall decorater's white. Did you do the same? how does it look?

@Mariel Alexa - Same combo in our home reno, white washed oak floors, strongly considering decorators white on walls trim (diff sheen)… did you do that too and can you post photos?
