Light fixture for boring stairway!

Hi everyone! These are two different views of our upstairs hallway. We plan on taking the carpet out and just doing a runner on hardwood in the near future. I'm looking for some advice on what kind of light fixture would be best for the space. I was thinking bigger, but I'm just looking for ideas. Also, any ideas for the landing would be welcomed and appreciated!

    I think bigger for the fixture. Something with a bit more statement.

    - I would also paint the spindles (and potentially the railing - what colour is the flowering when you remove the carpet and just go with a runner)? I would paint the spindles to match the trim, white. This would update the stairs a lot to me. The whole railing could look nice white too - that would update it but I’d want to see the flooring. The railing part could be left to match the floor.

    cI’d actually probably leave the landing empty.
