the pictures don't do them justice..when you stand or walk by them it feels like you're in the tropics..if I find out exactly what they do I'll let you know..

If we have a winter like last or half as bad you will need some sort of heat source. If the plant is under a year most likely not established so it's even trickier to over winter.

I’m debating to whether or not to dig them up and them in the garag without potting them. Michigan weather can go from 70F one day and 30F the next. They’re about 4’-5’ tall now. I was gonna transplane the pups and keep them potted inside but I read somewhere that said it was too late now. I forgot to take a picture before I cut down some of the leaves as were expecting our first frost.

I don't know the best solution for you..I overwinter mine in the ground..even though I protected them one died last year..I'd be afraid not to pot them..

Me too. I really wanna dig them up so at least I have some spares for next year if the ones in the ground died.

if I were you..I'd put some in a pot and take in..and for the outside ones I've heard you can use bales of straw..I haven't tried it..

I used the straws last year and the bananas didn’t make it. Granted it was brutally cold last year and my bananas were so young. We got hit with the frost last night. I’m not if it’s too late to dig them up now :~(

I don't know about when to dig...I've heard of using styrofoam coolers..you could try calling your extension office for advice..

They can still be dug up and placed in a box over winter in a cool spot with very very little water until they get re planted.
