Sling TV users, question about internet speed

We thought we would be ok with 30 mbps from a cable internet provider, but a couple of Best Buy associated told us today that we would need at least 50 mbps. This is for a couple of empty-nesters watching one tv at a time for the most part. Does anyone have experience to share?

We have Hulu, Netflix, Prime and Sling. I do not have any need for Direct TV Now. It takes a little time to adjust but there is so much to watch even older series that we never saw. We are extremely happy. Our only complaint is with our Internet provider. The price keeps going up. I believe that they are trying to force us to use their cable service. Say Monopoly.

We have been using Sling for 2 years. Our internet speed has changed several times over that time. We have always been able to watch sling. I would say that you should be OK.

Not sure how to interpret this, but here's a copy/paste from our plan. We use Sling with sports add-on, Hulu, Amazon and Netflix, no problems. Seems like you can always ADD speed, etc., if the lower plan doesn't work for you, right?

- Up to 12 Mbps download
- 1024GB monthly data allowance

The Sling website suggests a constant speed of 5 Mbps is what's required. That may be a bit on the low side. So long as no other internet use is going on when watching TV, 10 Mbps should be more than adequate for most streams.

In my experience Best Buy employees are often very confident but clueless in what they say. I'll buy from anywhere else when there's a choice, with the added benefit that by doing so I save money (even oftentimes when buying from Amazon).
