Japanese maple not doing good

Care tag said to plant in an area that gets 6+ hours of sunlight so I’m not familiar with Japanese maple (bloodgood) and I planted it in a full sun area. It doesn’t seem to be doing so good. Leaves are brown/crunchy and have holes in them. It’s a baby about 3 feet tall. I just planted it maybe two weeks ago. Any advice on how to help it grow? Thank u

Pull the grass back farther and mulch the soil, keep the tree well watered during dry spells.

Ok thank u. How do I do that safely without harming the roots? Sorry I’m new to this

Where are you located? In a hot climate, full sun can be too much for these trees. Some afternoon shade would be better.

I would transplant it to a partial shade area, preferably one that gets morning sun. It's not getting enough water and it doesn't want to be in full sun all the time. I have one myself. bloodgoods are pretty tough as Japanese maples go, but we don't know where you're located and this is apparently too much sun.

I’m in a small town called winters ca, it’s kind of near Sacramento & zone 9B, it does get really warm in this area. Do I need to uproot it and plant it in a safer area? I’m worried about disturbing roots and thank u for all the information
