Help with bathroom floors!

We are remodeling our master bath. It has been a nightmare process but we are in the home stretch. I have to pick a floor. This will be the third (and last) floor we put down. Long story, but want to make sure I finally get it right. Dark or light? Espresso vanities, shower surround is Valencia granite. Lots of light.

I’m initially drawn to the dark floor because I love dark wood, but worry it might be too much dark. We also have a large fawn colored Mastiff who sheds like crazy and lays in front of the shower, so dog hair.

My contractor suggested the lighter floor since it lightens the space and won’t show the dog hair as much. Plus, the carpet from the master bedroom is the same shade.

The wall color is SW Macadamia.

First pic is flooring choices, other pics are current bathroom pics (with previous floor - which is pretty but too red imo). Help me decide. Not sure if it matters but we will most likely move in the next 3 years so resale is a concern. Suggestions?

I think your current floor is very pretty! However, if you are making a change I like the lighter wood color since your vanity is so dark. And it will show less dog hair as your contractor suggested. Good luck! I'm about 2 weeks away from my master bath completion so I know how these decisions can drive you nuts!

If resale is a concern I would consider tile. Most people like tile in their bathroom. Pretty shower!

LIghter. Definitely lighter. Dark espresso cabinets are a powerful statement (which some do not like as it can feel a bit dated...like the dark kitchens of the early 2000's). I would suggest going as light as possible. Let the cabinet stand. I would also stay away from any floor that has too much movement. The shower is VERY strong with HUGE amounts of movement in the stone. Anything that has movement (like a "wood look" product) will be too busy.

A taupe "travertine-look" tile with VERY subtle striations would be my suggestion. I would match the tone of the taupe in the shower stone and then leave it alone. If you are looking at vinyl, then work with a stone or tile looking product in the same tones.

Yes, what SJ McCarthy an Kayca said. You love dark wood, so a light floor will show off your dark wood very well. If both were dark, your space would just be dark and the eye would not "see" the dark wood. I also agree with Karen Rose that people expect tile in a bathroom,
