Flush Mounted Induction Cooktop

Can a Bosch induction cooktop be flush mounted - i.e. completely even with counter top.

I ask because this is the installation that I requested but it was installed so that it is about 1/4" above the surface of the counter.

I don't have pictures at the moment but I can post later if necessary. When I look at some installations on the internet, it looks as though some are flush mounted.

It means the bottom of the glass edge of the cooktop rests on the counter.

It would be possible to mount it with the surface of the cooktop flush with the counter. It would require specialty work by the counter fabricator not anyone onsite. You'd need to remove material at the shop. He'd need the cooktop ahead of time to fit it. This may require reinforcing that area.

The installation instructions don't mention any material should be placed to space the cooktop above the counter unless the counter material is delicate. In that case wooden discs are used. Otherwise the unit overlaps the opening edge and is held by clamps tightly to the counter surface with zero space between the unit and the counter.

@dan - Could you please explain that in English LOL.

Does that mean that it sits slightly on top of the counter?

The flush mount inductions that I am aware of are Wolf and Gaggenau.

OK. Thanks. As I understand your explanation, the installation and fabrication was correct unless I wanted to get really specialized.

That wouldn't have been worth it to me - I'm fine with it as installed - assuming that it actually works once I get to use it :-).

I am moving in tomorrow so I have no idea whether toilets will actually flush etc. It's still a work in progress but I will at least have a shower and a toilet - fingers crossed. Hopefully I will be able to figure out how to turn on my shower which has a three way diverter and multiple valves :-).

I've had two installed, and both had the glass sitting on the countertop. I actually wouldn't have wanted flush mount because the crumbs..... Just something to think about.

I have a Bosch induction and it is not flush with the countertop. It sits on top of the countertop. I think this a good thing because if there was some spillage, wouldn't the liquid go straight into the cabinet below if the cooktop were flush?
