Where's a picture of the wall with the windows across from it with a view? On what wall is the bed going? Do you have dressers, nightstands - are do they need to be ordered? The paint on the walls looks fine to me.

As a yearly houseguest in a bedroom with it's own fireplace and tv, huge bathroom, it's rather annoying to have to remove all the pillows on the bed that are decorative -- and keep them there until I leave. They end up on the floor in a pile. It's annoying to not have a nightstand on my side of the bed with a lamp to read by. And, lastly, the lady of the house has used the walk in closet for herself with clothing dating back to 50 years ago. There is no room for me to hang things so I live out of my suitcase. There. This seemed like a good place to vent, so a host knows what not to do when creating a guest room. Simple is best. And please, no plug-in room scents. Good luck!

Exactly! And double the NO room scent other than fresh air clean. Open a window for the day when expecting q guest. It's about comfort, not a magazine shot !

I don't blame yo for venting, and it is exactly why I stay WITH NOBODY. Few get it right. If I can not go and go first class? I do not go. My own place is perfect.

White towels! And should look like they have never been used, and plenty OF them.

Great view! Well if you make the room too comfy, your guest may over-stay their welcome. I'd err on the side of very simple and not super comfortable.

Many of our guests like a small fan to run at night. A place for towels for two to hang in the bath. A chair to sit and read before bed. A small book or two, something not long and involved. Maybe a map of the area and a pamphlet of attractions in your area. Room darkening shades. When may I come? I'm a pretty good guest...

Prominently display the space for your guests to place their luggage so they don't throw it on the bed. (Always amazed that people do that in hotels!) I set up a luggage rack for this reason. Make sure the plug by their nightstand is accessible to charge their phone. Fun to leave a guest book for friends to sign!

What color? What color??? What color is your hallway? As far a s i am concerned? Paint it ANYTHING BUT GRAY.

Honestly? With that view, I paper it in grass cloth, more finished without needing a ton of art. As to window treatments ( nobody can see)

An awful lot of folks can't sleep without them. Yes the view is great. At night it's a black hole. Something like a Vignestte or Silhouett that can "disappear" into window casing ,.......but come down if someone feels that need.

Me? As long as it looked like anything down here? Super! H as a coffee pot? I'm in.

......I am not a lover of stark in a bedroom, and simple isn't stark.

I love how they used something different on the back of the headboard to draw your eye upward. My daughter is very artistic and she can paint anything I would like. I also like the paint divider! So many things to choose from now thanks to you all!

The link does not work for me. IMO the bedding should be gender neutral and I happen to find gray bedrooms incredibly restful, I have one and have loved it for 12 yrs which my husband says is a record. A guest roomto me says 5 star hotel all the amenities that you would expect. A Nesspresso coffee make a small fridge that is hidden in a cabinet . Extra blanket in the closet drapes are a nice warm addition to bedrooms and with your view will probably never be closed but some people still like that feeling. A ton of towels , a place to put the dirty ones. Beautiful bottles of shampoo, body wash , conditioner etc. The bedroom should be arranged according tp feng shui.

I have fluffy white towels in my guest bathrooms, but I have a stack of black or navy blue washcloths by the sink in a little basket with a note saying for makeup removal. I also have a water carafe and glass(es) on the nightstand. I also buy toothpaste and toothbrushes from the dollar store (they come in individual plastic wrappers) among other frequently forgotten items like travel sized shampoo, conditioner, and lotion and put in a pretty basket on the counter. I have a great hairdryer in the bathroom. A hamper in the closet. A luggage rack is a must to keep dirty luggage off the bed. Empty drawers and hanging space and hangers. The bed is simply made with just a fitted sheet, top sheet and duvet, 4 pillows, 2 European pillows(to lean on and read in bed) and just one decorative pillow. I used to have an elaborate bed but realized all of our guests were trying to remake the bed every morning the way it was which was sweet but probably very annoying! So I changed it.

I have a couple of big baskets that people can put the European pillows to get out of the way. I also put an extra blanket or two in the baskets. A universal charger in plain sight. A bench at the foot of the bed for a spot to sit and put on shoes. A tv is a must for me so I have one in the guest room. In the bathroom I also have a basic selection of over the counter meds, like Advil, pesto bismol tablets, tums, bandaids and antiseptic wipes. As I’m in the south, a fan is always appreciated, especially by my fellow menopausal friends lol.

Feng Shui . Ninety percent of it is give me a space that is comfortable. Most bedrooms have but one logical spot for a bed.

The rest? Is up to you. The broader the age and gender for a guest space? The better . It's not hard. Think of the BEST hotels ..... Ritzy Carlton Laguna Niguel for example. There are more of course. What's IN those? Comfort. Luxury.

I'd wait for the headboard to be delivered before choosing anything but a neutral bedding.

I don't think you need the pattern. If you must have it, either one? Plan to use two or three big white euro shams, one of the the pattern shams in front, and fold the comforter back at the foot of the bed with a white coverlet beneath. : ) Let the room breathe. White always implies light and air. REST. or pick something more tailored.
