Thanks lucky, replied to your message. As I said in my message, I have two FD's that I bought when they were probably 1 yr seedlings from an online source. They should be 3/4 yrs old now and 18 inches high. But never fruited. Next spring I will try my hand at grafting on them.

If I manage to sprout multiple FD's then I want to also try trunk fusion. Technically it is called inosculation where multiple trunks are tied together and as each grows they fuse into each other and become a single plant. It is a special form of grafting frequently used in bonsai to quickly achieve a thick trunk. For an example you can see it done for trident maple.
