I would like to know what they did above the bathroom. This is a really good idea to save space!

You have to get "creative" with the building department and the inspectors.

We created a playroom above the bathroom. You could use it to sleep, play or just hang out.

I would like to access a second story area using a ladder but have been told that they will not pass inspection due to code. Can you expand on how it works here? Thanks

It can be classified as a plant ledge/decorative until code, then add safety features (ladder and rails) after inspection.
