It's true, the couch does seem small for the room. You could make it work definitely - once you get art on the walls, additional seating, a rug, coffee table, a plant and other accessories, the room will feel more homey and not so vast and empty. However, if you dislike the couch in here, it will probably always bug you somewhat. Looks like you could easily fit a sectional. If you do go this route, look for a larger framed couch with bigger cushions or a higher back. The space is really beautiful, it will look amazing once it's together.

The couch will be swallowed up if there's no additional furniture. What other furniture pieces do you have? That's a nice couch, it just has a low back. Do you have the layouts offered by the designer?

Where is the proposed layout from the designer? Dimensions???

This designer is proposing you use three mirrors and a large clock in the room? Not a designer IMO. Maybe a decorator.

Did you want the chair and ottoman to be placed completely out of the range of conversation?

I will not have a tv in this room. This room is just for conversation. I’m purchasing new pieces for space whenever it’s decided what I need in there.

The couch seems small (short) for such high ceilings. I'd switch out unless unless you like big art or mirrors.

Omg @BeverlyFLADeziner! Ok so first off thank you!!! The room is big 20’x16’, long walls are where couch/windows are. I love what you’ve laid out. I don’t want the chair over there all alone. I didn’t want the sitting area in corner and I can also lose the mirrors. I have some huge pieces of art and smaller ones as well. I was planning to get rid of couch but I wasn’t sure if it could be used or not. I got it prior to finishing house.

i don't have a good straight-on image of your sofa or your windows so I just mocked this up to show you that sometimes if you place the sofa in front of the window wall with complementary colored drapes you can make the sofa look a bit taller. This is a straight on view of a sofa.

I'd have to lay out the room to scale which I can't do until later today, but you get the idea of what can happen in the room. The green lines show art and the blue line showed a TV over a sideboard, but that isn't necessary. If you keep the lovely red sideboard you need something spectacular to work with that

Can you reuse your existing drapery panels?

What color are they? You only need 4 panels for either side of the windows. No panels on the door.

Where is the sofa from?

Can you lower your chandelier to 8' above the floor?

What art do you have for the room?

I am suggesting a mirror for over the red sideboard for the wall opposite the windows. You can use light at that end of the room so consider sconces or buffet lights.

You can also consider multiple framed objects

It would be nice if your draperies were a bit longer, maybe mounted 12" above your white trim. Sometimes when I'm trying to create an interesting color I will layer sheer drapery panels on top of more opaque panels. Do you have 4 of these panels?

I only have the 2 drapes and they are hung higher than window frames currently. Those were custom made and the shop has since closed.

I have art pieces and mirrors propped up everywhere...don’t know where to hang them or if I should use anywhere.

Also have a couple mirrors but one is still in box and super heavy so I can’t get it for a picture now. Purchased 4 years ago and it’s just been in storage area.

OK that stuff looks great but without sizes, I can't tell you where to use it. Is the mirror large enough to place over the red sideboard?.

Art in this room should be pretty large and special. The room appears a bit dark. I was hoping you might have some bright art

Have you got another window for the silk draperies?

I will measure pieces and get dimensions for other mirror as well. I do not have another room for draperies but I am open to changing those but custom won’t be in budget until after rest of items are purchased.

And yes, I always have a goal to create a lighter room but I usually opt for darker colors and thereby end up with dark rooms, dark furniture, dark art. I love the ideas you’ve presented me with thus far!

The room is to scale at 16 x 20 . I figured the sofa at 3 x 8, and the chairs at 3x3

Rug is 10 x 14 that size is never inexpensive. What are you thinking about for a rug? Got anything? Will have to have a bit of brown to pick up the color in the sofa

I do not have a rug for the space yet. The plainer the better. I’m not a huge fan of patterns but I can go with something with minimal pattern/colors.

Dimensions are on each picture. The last two pics are of mirror that’s been boxed up. It’s very heavy so I couldn’t get it all the way out of the box to get pictures. It is 48”though. I’ll get better picture tmrw.
