I live in an old house in an old neighborhood, and my neighbors have a bush that hangs over into my yard. I've never seen this bush before - it may be something that was popular in the past, but has fallen out of favor. The seed pods have split now and each has three little orange seeds. The leaves and the way the branches reach laterally remind me of a Prunus or Malus, but the fruit on this one certainly doesn't look edible. I had a pyracantha many years ago, but it had thorns and fleshy orange fruit.
