I think that’s a perfect place for a mirror.

A mirror no wider than 75% of the cabinet's width. Maybe a basket on top to catch your keys.

The opposite wall has a mirror. Would it be too many mirrors for that space?

For starters, I’d remove the side window curtain and get a larger a larger more colorful mat. Try switching positions of the coat tree and shoe chest, and if a coat tree is a must, find one a bit beefier that suits the shoe chest better. As above, a mirror will be perfect above the chest. Maybe a tray to catch papers, keys, etc...

No mirrors over couches. That is where art belongs.

Maybe some more interesting coats? Yes, on getting rid of the curtain. Or else put a rod at the bottom of the window to keep the curtain taut. There should be a rod at the top of the curtain, too; not a make-do.

To my mind, the hallway needs some color. A more spacious rug in a ruby color?

Maybe you could re-purpose the mirror over the couch and mount it vertically? It might be too long, but it's always worth trial and error!

Could you post more pictures of the room? It would help to see the area from further back showing what's on the other side of the door. Get a rug that fills the landing with just a foot or so of wood showing around the edges. I would center the cabinet on the wall and find a different place for the coat rack. Entryways are great places to have a mirror and some kind of bench to sit and remove your shoes. The mirror over the sofa is too big for that location. I would move it. I think it would be a great one to stand up leaning against a wall.

I would add a pretty piece of art over the cabinet. I agree with adding a larger area rug and with re-doing the curtains on the sidelights. Sheers on tension rods will give you privacy and a much neater look.

A small point, but I would move the verse from Joshua a few inches higher. That ledge below the window above the door seems to be cryi g out for something (ideally something that doesn't need wateriing and won't show the dust).

as long as your staircase is wide enough, I would have hooks on the wall where the shoe cabinet is rather than the coat rack, and possible a low shelf underneath to solve the shoe issue.

I agree with others about the curtains. They don't look nearly as neat as the ones on the other side of the fireplace.

Hang art, no mirror. This would also be a good place for a decorative bowl (which could double for, say, outgoing mail)...

1) Don't decorate behind a door. The entry chest needs to move. It doesn't have room to be there. Looks awkward. Coat tree can stay.

2)The big floor mirror that you have on the wall needs to move to another room. A mirror is not a good choice for over a sofa. A big framed print would do wonders for your room.

3)Great rug!

Some art ideas for over the sofa. Art should be 2/3 to 3/4 the length of the sofa. A little color???

Your entry is right in the living room which makes any

thing on that wall awkward and cramped. If something for shoes is essential, I'd use a lidded basket to the left of the fireplace and make everyone put their jackets in their own rooms.

Hi. I think removing the cabinet and replacing that space with the mirror above your couch vertically and then move the coat stand closer to the mirror creating a grouping.

There are a few possibilities here. For your entry way, we actually think Beverly has the right idea. However if you want to keep what you have, try a small round mirror over the console. Then we would do artwork over the sofa. If you are willing to change the entry and do what Beverly suggests, we would also change the mirror still over the sofa since it doesn't reflect anything beautiful.
