Decor help for a taupe couch

Hi all! We just had our couch reupholstered and it is in a taupe colour. I would love some advice as to how to decorate the room and what colour scatter cushions to buy. We are planning on getting a new TV stand/unit and I am not overly invested in the rug if I need to get a new one. I have also included a pic of our other room to give an idea of the style we like. Colours I like include blues, greys and monochrome but not sure what will work best here.
