i would suggest painting the bricks a more vibrant color, perhaps blue or something different as i see all your nieghbours have red. Something that i believe will make this stand out is if you add water features (modern features) to the area after a porch/deck kinda thing. I dont think a trellis porch would look good or any porch with a roof simply because the bricks would offset with the porch. A nice deck without a roof would really compliment the bricks features. (something like this picture just perhaps a differnt stained wood)
