Question about installing a rectangular vessel sink

Hi all!

We're currently remodeling our master bathroom and will be installing two rectangular vessel sinks (this one: http://a.co/d/iqiNdPT). They've got square outer sides that sit flush on the counter.

Well, mostly flush - water could easily work it's way under the edge and get dirty over time.

What's the best practice here? Should I simply apply silicon caulk around the base of the sink? Or is there a better way to do this? Or, no caulk at all?

My sinks are admittedly inexpensive and came with no instructions, so trying to figure out the best way to do this.
