A shade darker than the carpet would provide nice contrast with the furniture.

Everything except real hardwood and super pricey carpet involves plastic.

Or tile, sorry to leave out tile.

So I read your comments about plastic now back to vinyl luxury. Three I like. Need help. One has a whitewashed look that goes well with bedroom. Have to make a choice The third photo is whitewashed. Do you like any of these?

Something to consider when choosing flooring is that the floor act as a base for everything else in the room. Lighter will tend to give a more airy and floaty feeling if that's what you like. Darker will ground everything but might make your room feel heavy since most of your furnishings is light. On the functional side, a lighter (almost white) floor will tend to highlight dust a lot more. A bedroom with lots of textiles will generate a lot of fine dust very quickly.

Whatever tone you go with, (lighter or darker), I will give you the advice to stay more in the cooler side rather than warm. The samples you have chosen all have a very warm tone and combined with what you have in the room will look misplaced, and start to feel old and dirty soon after the initial honeymoon phase. Just remember to keep on the flooring tone on the cooler side, and darker or lighter will both work.

In response to Pat. What really doesn’t show in photo is my bedroom set has a slight golden tone in the antiquing. The whitewashed one in person tends to be the lightest and coolest. My living room tile has a slight golden quality so trying not to clash. Very difficult. Do you know the difference between wood laminate and luxury vinyl?

Hmm...it's hard to see the gold tones in the furniture from the photos. Have you considered a more neutral grey colour?

Don't worry about the potential clashing in the living room as you want the floor that works best in your bedroom as the priority. You will spend more time in the room than in the hallway or threshold where the flooring meets.

If the materials are what I think they are (since people like to use different names), the luxury vinyl is still a vinyl product that will have a colder feel and touch compared to a laminate product. I am not sure where you are located exactly but if you don't need the moisture resistance, then a laminate floor will in most cases feel more like real wood.

Pat. I was looking at a post that you answered regarding direction of hardwood and someone posted a picture of their kitchen. That floor was dark but had a nice soft glow. Do you have any idea if it’s laminate or real wood?or is there a way to find out? Thanks

It's really hard to tell from a photo. Judging by the width of the planks and the joints in the floor I would guess it's laminate.
