Quartz backsplash to match counters - not slabs

Hi, I am considering quartz counters and thinking about the backsplash as well. I read so many comments on Houzz talking about quartz choices and what to coordinate as a backsplash choice. Sometimes people are using slabs of the same material for backsplash (which works well in some kitchens depending on style) and some people are using real marble or other natural stone choices. But sometimes I read warnings about matching real stone right next to Quartz because the quartz pales in comparison to the real thing.

But I'm wondering if anyone has tried cutting quartz into tile sizes to apply to the backsplash. For that matter, I'm wondering if any of the quartz companies offer their product in popular tile shapes and sizes. I've had a look at a few and I haven't seen anything like that offered.

I just think it would make so much sense for those companies to offer that option but there might be a good reason why they don't (price, practicality?)

Right now my top choice would be Eternal Calacatta Gold from Silestone and if they offered the same product in a small herringbone pattern I'd snatch it up so quickly.

Anyone have any experience with using smaller pieces as tile? Or reasons why you think it might not be a good idea?

Quartz manufacturers, are you listening? Maybe a whole new product line to offer by having a few popular tile size shapes of your product. Subway, herringbone, arabesque?? I could also envision people choosing it in their shower and bath surrounds.

Thanks very much precision tops, but I'm not sure that's what I'm looking for. That link is for natural stone slabs and matching backsplash. I'm aware those choices are available, but I'm looking for quartz slabs with matching quartz in tile sizes for a backsplash application.

If I'm missing the point and it is there on that site, I apologize, but I haven't been able to find that so far.

I think that some of the porcelain tiles might meet your expectations. Walker Zanger has a Calacatta Porcelain that comes in a 3 x 12 size that you could lay in a herringbone patter like what you showed. Link is here:

I think your best bet would be to get a decent size sample of your quartz countertop and bring the sample with you to the tile showrooms, and see how it looks next to natural stone, porcelain and quartz tiles. It is tricky when you are trying to match two different products because if it's off, it might look like a mistake. However, your doing a mosaic or a pattern, might help you because the texture might make any color difference less noticeable.

So you want manmade slabs and tiles made out of the same stuff, right? If they are offered, they won't be a perfect match because they will be a different lot number (but it might still be okay).

I don't think they do tiles though.

Yes, that's what I was thinking about. I can't find it offered either, but it makes me wonder why they don't offer. Seems a great marketing opportunity for the quartz companies. You're right about the dye lots and of course that would make it hard for them to manage inventory.

Anyway, I'll keep looking around to see what will work well together. I know that a solid slab backsplash is not what I want, I'm in love with herringbone and it will be a matter of finding one that works well with whatever quartz we end up choosing.

If you're looking at the quartz above a light grey tile works really well. You can even do it in herringbone!
