There is Kraus, Ruvati, Frigidaire, Commercial,Elkay, Miligore, and the list goes on, pretty much anyone with a shop and press started to make sinks when under-mounts became popular and they all good companies as long as you stick to 16 gauge, with sound guard padding and undercoating you cannot go wrong.

As the radius corners go, the bigger the radius the more room inside you will loose. I have seen smaller square sinks hold more stuff in comparison to larger sinks with rounded designs.

We have a kraus 30” undermount 16 gauge ss sink and like it so far. My prep sink is a 15” kohler and honestly i don’t see a difference. The smaller sink was twice as $$! It was the size we needed though so we didn’t have much choice but I think kraus is great quality and price.

The likelihood of ending up with a high-quality sink surely increases following that advice, but I believe my Frankes are 18 gauge ss. :)

The difference between 16-18 is very little 16-G is 0.0500" and 18-G is 0.0625 so it will be unnoticeable... 16-G were always considered a luxury sinks and they use to be very costly. Today most manufacturers offer them at affordable prices. As long as you stay away from 22-G sinks which is a thin-can and they dent easily and very loud especially with high faucets.

There's a direct correlation between the amount of nickel in a stainless sink and price.

A simple way to test if stainless has nickel in it is use a magnet. The stronger the magnet sticks to the stainless the better the stainless.

Take a magnet with you and If your concerned about rust, you will have to spend a little more.

For the stainless quality, look for at least 304 grade, 316 is a higher grade because it is more resistant to chemicals. 304 will be fine for most home use.

My main sink and prep sink, both Kraus, were delivered recently. While not installed, they both are fantastic quality!

Been living with a Kraus main sink and Kraus prep sink for almost a year. So far so good.

Another vote for Kraus. The kitchen sink was the first item I researched on the Gardenweb site as we were planning our remodel. It’s 304 16 gauge stainless, undermount. We got a 10” deep model in order to avoid putting in a tall gooseneck faucet to fill a big stockpot. The sink came with a basin rack included. Got it a little over a year and a half ago at a very reasonable price online. We love our sink!

I have the Hahn sink linked above and am happy with it so far. But it's only been a week! I bought it on sale for $220. Not sure when you need it, but Costco does mark it down sometimes.

I was beginning to think I was the only one that got a Hahn instead of Kraus lol. Good point, Mona - I also got it on promotion for $220, which I thought was an amazing deal for 16 gauge 32” long, 10” deep with sound proofing, accessories, etc. I never thought I would ever find myself saying I loved a sink - but I really do love this sink.

I remember quite a few years ago, the people on the forum were raving about Artisan Sinks. I got one, (this was about 10 years ago,) and it was totally fine. We have moved from that house but I definitely recall it with the fleur de lis design on the sink. I checked and it looks like they are still around. Does anyone recall anything about them? I don't see them mentioned.

I have had cheap stainless sinks and expensive ones and have never had one rust. Choose a sink you like in a size that works for you and move on to more important items IMHO.I would avoid all the fancy additions to your sink because IMO a cutting board for instance that fits in my sink would be a huge PITA and too small to be useful and then there is the question of where to store all the extras. Keep it simple you can never go wrong.

Never had anything but an 18 gauge, and absolutely no "tinny" sound or dents. NONE. (And I have never knows anyone that had a stainless sink to rust.) Last sink was an Elkay, it was probably 15 years old when I replaced it last year. My new one is a Kohler, and I love it.

I actually ordered a Kraus and a Bianco sink (wanted to try the 16 gauges, plus they were less expensive) and I hated the brushed finishes. The Kohler cost more than I had wanted to spend, but I am very very happy with it.

Chessie, like I said before there is a very small difference between 16 and 18 Gauge, if you put 2 sinks side by side and run water or do what ever you will not tell the difference between one or the other... But in comparison to 22 Gauge you will probably dent the bottom is you put a few extra plates in :-)

Chessie- interesting you don’t like brushed finish. Many people prefer brushed cause it doesn’t show the scratches as glaringly as polished does.

Choose a large deep double one and a good quality faucet w/plenty of arc. The better sink will be well worth the investment.

As to rust: The cleaning lady at an office where I worked used steel wool soap pads to clean what was supposedly a "stainless steel" sink. The interior of the sink must not have been very smooth -- bits of stainless steel fibers from the steel wool soap pads got left in the sink and those fibers rusted, staining the sink. When that office moved to another building on the other side of town, the tiny rust stains were still in the sink. None of my (3) stainless steel sinks have ever rusted but I don't leave metal things IN the sink that can rust.

M Miller, my old Elkay had a beautiful polished finish that looked fabulous, even after 15 years of use. This was my old sink, right before I replaced it. A smooth finish cleans up easier and much nicer than a brushed finish.

So when I started looking at new (undermount) sinks, and found that most of them had a brushed finish, they just looked DULL to me, and I found them very unappealing. I never had any issues with scratches before, so that was never a concern for me. I'm very glad I stuck with what I loved.

Have you heard of MR Direct? I had model 3118 Stainless Steel Kitchen Sink for 8 years and it was fantastic. They offer 304 grade stainless steel and is available in 18 or 16 gauge.

At $139, it seemed like a steal.

I would recommend Ruvati, good quality and performance, great looking. some of them come with accessories, and less expensive than similar brands

@Susan L I’m glad to hear you like your sink. That’s the one I have waiting to be installed, and I’m actually excited about it! I have the Boos cutting board with it as well.

We use Revere sinks by Daltile quite a bit. Haven't had any issues with them and they offer 16g for a lot of their sinks.
