Need Help Identifying the Architectural Style of this Home

Please help me describe the style of this home, so I can look for plans and/or find an architect to design it. Thank you in advance.

MizFields, guessing Spanish/Mediterranean with corner quions.

Nothing like that home in my neck of the woods. This one pictured is typical. We don’t own the house (sigh), but the water behind is where we keep out boat…Ryder’s Cove.

Good luck with your search/build. Fun time in your life.

    McMansion.

Tuscalifornicanate The serious answer to your question is mélange. It has no particular style because it is at least four different architectural styles. Hence the term mélange.

OP: perhaps you should identify the elements of this house that appeal to you and which elements you do not prefer.

It's a marriage of a Mid-Century modern bungalow and an early 20th Century Mediterranean Revival. Like mating a Dachshund to a German Shepherd.

    People in glass houses...

All of the above, but to cover your bases you could call it a "villa" if you're writing an ad.

Were the corners originally rock and they got painted over?

Don't worry about the architectural style. Take a list of your wants and needs to a local architect, a site survey, and a written description of what statement you want you house to make; and the architect will come up with a design that will fit the area, site, and you.

You actually want that? IMO a horrible example of someone who couldn’t make up their mind what they wanted so did everything.

A Google image search for “Mediterranean style ranch house plans” will get you going in the right direction.

Here is a close example: I like the tile roof much better than the one in your inspiration photo. Would you consider it?

BTW, where are you? Will this style fit into the neighborhood?

I once heard the architecture critic for the SF Chronicle refer to this as "neo-Mexiterranean". In other words, kind of a mix of Mexican, Spanish, Italian, and French Mediterranean. He didn't mean this kindly, either, I'm afraid. ;-)

Not sure on the house, but I LOVE the dog pic that worthy posted! He's adorable! The dog that is. I have yet to decide if worthy is adorable -- jury is still out. ;)

Don't build a house that is already dated. Are you in Florida?

Florida. Typical Florida subdivision although the quoins shown aren't as common on that style of home. If anything, I wish it could at least be dressed up as JudyG shows in the pic.
