I went with Medallion cabinets and I am very happy with them. You should check to see if they are within your budget. If not, they are sold at Lowes under the Schuler brand name.

One thing we were concerned about re Chinese cabinets was not only the quality/longevity, but also off-gassing/harmful chemicals.

If you can find an Amish cabinet maker you'll get what you're looking for. One of the forum members from the Sarasota area used one recently.

Looking at the Panda catalogue I see a very limited selection of doors/drawers with limited finishes. Maybe more are available. The box construction is 3/4" frameless with multi-layer plywood. That looks good.

Get a price on Shiloh cabinets. I am very happy with mine and they were not the sun and the moon at all!

My builder also uses Panda Cabinets. I would encourage you to go see them in person to see if you'll like them. When I went to their showroom, and felt/touched them, I decided to keep looking. I ended up w/ Kraftmaid for a good chunk more, but they installed the first batch and I'm very happy w/ the fit/finish.

Also, in terms of good cabinets from China, maybe there are, but I wasn't able to find any. It did seem like cabinets follow the rule, you get what you pay for... unfortunately.

If all you can afford is what our now-banned "Sophie" used to call "cheapchinesecrapola", then use Ikea cabinets. They are far better in quality. They will only be a savings, though, if you can assemble them yourself. Paying to have that done is costly.
