great, that definitely sounds like it!. Looks like I should have sprayed lime sulphur in winter, but for now I'll try Yates Natures Way Vegie & Herb Spray it's apparently good for mites

You have to spray for mites when the leaves and fruits are very small. If you spray other times it is a waste of time and chemicals. Watch closely and use a 10X loupe to see the mites when they first appear; they are easy to control at that moment.

I’m not sure when to spray .. the tree is big and there are always big leaves as well as new leaves. I’d be spraying with a hose attachment so I’d have to do the whole tree to reach the little leaves

After the bloom, when fruits are very small is the best time to check for mites; look especially on the underside of the newer leaves.
