John, with all do respect l think you got a birdbrain. I could explain to you what some of us has to go through,sorry let me rephrase that, me not us. I really don’t care, including you and your 7 million acres.

The size of my brain is not an issue here.. I guess I just don't understand the question. As, for the 7 million acres... we currently have 35,000 trees... at 525 trees per acre, that is about 67 acres; and considering we have 11 associate growers, we are still a pretty small,,, but growing, operation.

Bob I am glad you are doing well and ready for new challenges. Planting figs to be a wind break should work well and be interesting. I have tried something that really worked. I moved 8 pepper plants with peppers inside to let the plant ripen the fruit inside.

Bob, sounds like a very good plan for the coming year, everything you share about container growing helps people who grow trees in containers and the knowledge about in ground trees helps people who have trees in ground. It is hard to grow fruit trees in the zones that they don't grow naturally, every bit of good information helps.

Bob love your enthusiasm and ideas !!!!! . Nothing wrong with thinking ahead to next season makes the dreary winter go that much faster . Fat tree I would love to do but unfortunately in the future I will have to keep my tree's much smaller and more narrow ( thin ) lol as I am running out of space like 3 years ago. Bob you no doubt will be able to grow many fat tree's in your beautiful growing space very nice setup . Never stop growing in the hobby you love so much Bob . Great work. Looking forward to see your fat tree's next year !!!!

Bob, I agree with everyone and Brian couldn't of said it better.

I have a few questions for you.

If you have a ton of trees plantd in the ground and it gets dangerously cold there, what will you do? All that work to protect them, and especially if they grow big given a few warm years of winter.

I tried one in ground 'fig' tree last year and it survived and grew back from the ground. But doing that it never produced any figs. Every year the old growth dies back no matter how good or how hard I try to protect it. Now this fall, it was loaded with a first breba crop that has gone dormant and will get toasted this winter. I am done with trying.

So my hats off to you if you can pull it off. This weather is so unpredictable that I can no longer trust it. Last year it was 70 at this time and just a few days ago it was below 0. Keep trying friend.
