About to order cellular shades for a new build. Some of the windows are doubles, that is, two double-hung windows sitting two abreast. There are two options: one big shade that goes the full width, or a split shade that's actually a single headrail with two independent shades on it.

I feel like one big shade it going to both look weird and be unwieldy to operate. But, my wife is worried that a split setup would allow too much light in (these are primarily going to be room darkeners in the kid's rooms).

Any advice on this topic?
