had had a Kitchenaid OTR convection microwave for years, love love love it. the handle recently is coming loose and cracked part of the door and a new door is $260, so we will probably just hold off foe a bit and thenreplace the whole thing with a new one for $500.
Just installed a KA disheasher this weekend. so far it is amazing. 39 dba, it is so quiet. while researching, I found KA is one of the few that offer heat element drying (less water drops left on plastics).

We have 5- 10 year old Kitchen Aid appliances. We typically never buy the extended warranties. We did for the refrigerator and thank goodness- it did need a major repair before the 5 year mark, but was covered and the refrigerator gasket started to tear and that was covered also. The dishwasher has been fine except -- my husband replaced a part that we were able to purchase on Amazon. The grinder was broken because a pop tab snuck down there. The beverage fridge has an issue with the light switch. We did not get extended warranty on that, so it's not fixed and not a big deal. The Stove had to have the circuit board replaced, but that was covered under extended warranty. The microwave time and timer lights no longer light up, we just live with it. Otherwise LOVE them! Considering that new appliances aren't supposed to last 10 years any more (?!) I guess we are ok. They were the Kitchen Aid Architect series which I'm sure no longer exists. We really like our local appliance dealer. They have been wonderful.

I have a KA fridge that has been perfect. It will be 20 years old next year and thus may not be representative of current models. I recently put in a KA dishwasher and it's fine. Quiet, makes things clean, dries pretty good. Not sure how it compares to the cheapest thing out there because I haven't had a new dishwasher in a long time and maybe they all do that.

I have a KA counter depth french door fridge. Just under 5 years old and I like it a lot as far as space and function go, but the door gaskets started splitting apart after about a year. I fixed with duct tapebut now the gaskets are deteriorating. Just recently the ice maker failed and was replaced under extended warranty. So, while I’m not thrilled I figure it’s how appliances go nowadays.

Take a look at Bosch appliances. I think they are a great value in the mid range and perform quite well.

Electrolux stove just electrocuted the plumber to death stove on recall. My stove built by frigidaire bought by electrolux sold by Sears as Kenmore Elite. The knobs are defective and all my 5 knobs are broken a new knob today is $92 and they are not stainless steel they are plastic the same ones that are still defective. I was on fire in the kitchen and saved from 2 gas explosions. Good Luck I am looking for a new gas stove too. I TRIED TO GET THIS STOVE RECALLED WITH NO HELP I GUESS SOMEONE HAS TO DIE FIRST BEFORE THEY WILL DO ANYTHING TO HELP THE CONSUMER.

New 36" stoves are very expensive I need help to pick one and, of course, I have a microwave above the stove. A lawyer told me to put a sign on it in case my visitors/staff bumped the knobs on the stove while heating their coffee in the microwave. It is a shame what consumers are faced with after the 1st year.

I will pay for a new one with discover they give another year for manufacturer warranty.

I have had a whirlpool dishwasher for about 16 and just replaced it with another whirlpool with a plastic tub because my melaleuca dishwashing liquid does not work with a stainless steel tub because it has no phosphates in it. My pro from Sears works really good but cannot use the melaleuca product in it. Sears said stop using it because it sticks to the tub.

Electrolux stove just electrocuted the plumber to death.

Deborah Perry - hold on, what?? Your plumber died from an electrocution? Why was the plumber working on your stove? How did the stove electrocute your plumber? Didn't he cut the power before working on the stove? What does his grieving family say about his horrible death? I cannot follow your post. It's fairly incoherent.

I was on fire in the kitchen and saved from 2 gas explosions.

TWO gas explosions? You were on fire? Who saved you? Did your kitchen remain intact after two gas explosions?

Joe came from next door I was sleeping and he opened all the windows and doors there could have been an explosion. He was my staff at the personal care home it was about 3:00 am and he woke me up the house was full of gas fumes.

The stove is on the recall list stating the plumber was electrocuted to death. Recall.gov and put in death of plumber.

The actual story is a plumber in New Hampshire was electrocuted and died while working on a DW. He came in contact with an energized range. This led to a recall in May-2017 of 6300 glass-top electric (not gas) ranges made by Summit and Blomberg (not Electrolux) because they can become energized, posing electric shock and electrocution hazards.

Just wanted to set the story straight. It is not related to gas fumes and the two gas explosions that Deborah Perry described.
