Did you decide? I really like A. It is hard to determine how well the black and gold goes with your house from the pictures. I think that A looks very updated and more forward thinking. Some of those other ones seem less new. I think A and C are fun and modern (with A being slightly more elegant IMO), but D has the ability to go more traditional - so it depends on the feel you want.

I haven't decided yet, but A is my favorite also. I don't want what everyone else has. I have that ac vent right in the ceiling, so I'm tryin to decide if I should just get something I can swag to center, or move the fixture to as close to center as I can. I have even thought of closing the vent off if possible...The feedback helps though, thanks all!

Was shopping and saw these square glass vases..thought they might look great running down the middle of your dining table..just a sprig of something in each one..could be some kind of succulents or artificial herbs...just thought I would share...you would need at least 2 sets.......

I love the one your Sister hates. It is different and unusual.

Your art and table has such a chic clean feel...with a touch of mid century ....I love the idea of that linear with the glass globes absolutely beautiful..prefer linear over round for sure..

Something modern with glass that is large and dramatic with simple shapes. Make sure it is strong enough to make a statement and serve as a focal point -- and hung appropriately. See # 7 on this page for tips about size and placement of lighting.

The ceiling is somewhat low, so It needs to look good but not hang too long. I am drawn to MCM, but there are so many repoductions out there, and some just look cheap. Liking something and wanting it to work in our spaces is so hard to accept. I find myself in the same positions you are. I’m needing a dining light as well, and already have island pendants. I’ve found a light I really want to use, but getting mixed reviews on the marrying of the two. I understand your pain! Good luck. Let us know what you decide.

I like both those lights, kulrn. Please note that the wood one has an integrated LED that cannot be replaced. My question: if the lamp burns out before its 50,000 hours, do they replace the fixture for you? (if you used it 6 hrs/day, it supposedly would last 22 years.)

My other issue with the integrated LED is that you can't pick the K value of the light. I use all daylight 5000 K lighting and would have one light that is 3500K or whatever value they have selected. I buy the same brand LED for every fixture because the color of the light varies from brand to brand.

I love the more industrial Sputnik:)

Have you looked at any handmade lighting on Etsy? You could have something very original made..

Haven't thought about a handmade Julie. May look into that. Good point Groveraxle. It's WestElm, so not sure how good it is. Well, the industrial one is at the top for the time being, I'll probably bite the bullet and order it. My BFs big concern is poking an eye out when he walks by!

Humm.. 45.67" widest part of light. 36" table width. Hard to tell if all the arms are the same width... They do seem to go in all different directions!

I failed to mention I plan on painting the main living area also. I'm thinking Simply white. The grayish color now is depressing with how little direct light I get. Another option for your ceiling is to replace the cover with a drywall cover. It is like doing a drywall patch and becomes part of the ceiling/wall. It’s a piece of MDF with slits cut into it which I purchased at a big box hardware store.
