Oh me, Sherry!! And I was feeling angst for losing our 60 plus degree days with a freeze warning tonight and "colder" air moving in!! I am so sorry and cannot imagine that. Definitely puts it in perspective for me and I will now view my colder temps with glee because there is not a prediction of 9 inches of snow coming with them. Stay warm!!!

Where I am and even further north, we are supposed to get 6-12 inches. There is a sharp drop-off line where south of us all they're getting is rain. We have had SO MUCH SNOW and below-average cold already in November it makes me terrified for the rest of the winter. LOL

Sherry: Saw your area on the news. Take it easy with the shoveling. I'm glad to miss this one but we are having flurries mixed with rain over the next couple of days. Most of the 12 inches of snow we got is nearly gone since we've had a couple of days with rain.

We spent a few days in Maryland with our daughter over the holiday and drove back from Maryland on Saturday. Driving through Pennsylvania we encountered sleet/freezing rain. Not a fun drive back.

How much did you end up with Sherry? We just added more snow to make our totals impressive. This is the whitest November I can remember. Every ski area is open and running on natural snow. Schools are all cancelled and I'm on Gram-duty again. Stay warm!

Celeste, where I live we got 7” of snow. Friends about 20 miles north got 14”. The wind and heavy snow was destructive, downed power lines and uprooted trees where the heaviest snow fell.

And just for contrast in NH, my friend who lives several hundred feet higher than I got several inches while we only got an inch or so of slush even though we are less than 10 miles apart as the crow flies.

Times like this I am happy with Ky weather, although I have been cold even in a warm house. Mental I guess. I don't think i would do well at all with colder than here. Stay safe and warm everyone, hope the snow does not linger long.

We don't have snow often...thankfully since we also don't have snow plows, but November temps have been like typical January temps. All you in the north, stay warm and stay safe....we have severe weather forecast for the weekend, unfortunately.

flowergirl70ks...….I agree with you that snow is beneficial for the garden. I can attest that my gardens always do better the summers following heavy snow winters. Not only does it protect my plants with it's insulating 'blanket' but also that moisture and what must be nature's enriching 'potion' just boost the plants in the spring. My husband's business depends on snow so from a financial standpoint it is a benefit. I also have little grandsons who adore playing in and sledding in my yard and making snowmen.....so that benefits us too.:)

I don't even mind it from an aesthetic viewpoint, since to me it is much prettier than brown ground and bare trees. I still take my walks in it. The only thing that I mind is actually winter itself (not the snow).....and how LONG it goes on for us in New Hampshire. The bears have the right idea to hibernate!
