It depends somewhat on the size of your blocks. I think the X looks fine and will be plenty, but if the blocks are big, like 12", it may need more.

I think it will be fine if you are using a good batting like Warm and Natural. Pretty quilt by the way.

Remember the quilting is to hold it together if you wash it. I think I'd do a line in between at least. Usually quilting every 4-6" holds it together better.

What are you calling a block? Are each of those rail fence sections 12" long, or are you calling 4 of them a block? If each of them are 12", there are spots that it's 24" between quilting lines (diagonally). That spacing would probably not be sufficient. I would sew a line between each of those lines, then go the other way at the same spacing so that you end up with a crosshatch/grid.

If 4 of the rail fence sections are 12", you probably have enough quilting if you just go across the other way and make the crosshatch.

You definitely you need to follow the recommendations on the batting. The lightest I am comfortable quilting is about 2 inches apart. That said, I have not experienced any issues at all with multiple batting types. If the batting recommends every 4 inches, I'm sure you would be fine doing that. The true test, of course, will be when you wash/dry quilt. You could always make a sample and wash/dry it to check how it will behave with your quilting layout.

Unfortunately I no longer have the batting bag and can’t be sure what brand....but I think it was Warm & Natural. I’m going to add additional cross hatching just to be safe. Thanks all!
