That's nice blooming bunch. I can't find them anywhere in the states. It or similar ones have been called Florida Clown but I haven't been able to verify the name which makes it tougher to find a supplier.

I have a Rubicundum and some Burning Hearts that, based on their markings and leaf shape may have some descendancy from your variety. However, they have completely different coloring. No green.

The homestead (ruins thereof) is in a remote area, and back in the 1950's it was far more remote. Plants back then wouldn't have been readily available, especially ornamentals. There's another old homestead, some distance away, abandonned in the mid 1960's with the same plants. There's a third site where these plants are and it was a World War 2 military camp that housed military people who were recovering from injury or illness. I suspect it was the third site that was the original source of the plants at the homesteads. Speculation of course, but it's plausible. Provenance can be an interesting side to plants.

A botanist from a local herbarium identified the plants. But the interest of botanists only goes to species level and not to cultivars. So no idea which cultivar it might be.
