I would recomend to start out with your lovely dream kitchen and the white. It is a great starting point and then you can add some color to the walls at a later time if you think it needs it. You can also add loads of color with your soft finishes like sofa, drapes, throw pillows, and wall art.

This is an area where you may want to hire a designer for a little help. There are ways, depending upon the layout, where items can be changed up some and it all still blend together. The trick is in picking which elements to highlight (say with stain) and how to repeat the treatment in a purposeful way through the space. Take some time and look through photos here on Houzz and save those that have any appeal. Many times we see dark stained windows in an otherwise neutral kitchen and then the stain color repeated in a cased/arched opening, on a patio door, in staircase railing and posts, beams on a ceiling, etc. It just has to make sense for your space.

These elements mix well to break up the white. This designer has several projects on Houzz where she mixes stain/paint and it looks good. There are lots of Houzz photos, not sure what you are going for.
