help with living room layout

I need some layout suggestions please. I have a house built in 78 with a formal living room in the front of the house. We use this as our primary living room, but I cannot come up with a nice, functional layout bc it's a walkthrough living room. I'll attach what I believe the dimensions to be. Any suggestions are appreciated. The doorways are 6' and I have two tiny vertical windows that might be about 2' wide. Thanks in advance!

Think about the below arrangement. It has two armchairs, an ottoman, full size sofa and two small scale occasional chairs. The TV is placed between the windows, assuming there is room, and underlined with a media console. Another console is on the opposite wall, flanked by two occasional chairs that you can pull into the major seating arrangement for larger groups. This floating furniture arrangement forces the traffic pattern towards the back of the room, so as not to interrupt the seating group. You could also flip the arrangement, but wouldn't have a view out the windows.

If you want to place the seating arrangement in a way that no one will cut through is have two sofas facing each other one placed at the window and the on the opposite side have a console behind it at the wall. That way you will have a passageway to cross to the other side of the room. Hope this makes sense.

First, I would flip the TV to the other side so it's not in front of the windows. Leave the rug where it is, but put the sofa on it, facing the TV, with enough space to walk behind. Then pull your chairs up at right angles to the sofa, close enough to reach the coffee table. This will force people to walk around, not through, the seating/viewing area.

Then add some panels to your curtains. If you're going to close them, you need curtains that are 2 1/2 times the width of the windows. Otherwise, they look skimpy and look like flat sheets when they are closed.

I had the same idea. I'll have to try it. it'll just be weird seeing the TV as soon as you enter the house, but will see how it feels. thanks for the input!

So this is actually the family room? Is this not the first room you see entering the home? Didn’t realize this was the tv room

Yes, I know it's meant to be a formal living room, but this is just kinda what it's become. The set up of my home is odd and we don't really use the downstairs. my formal dining room is my office and the upstairs den is the dining room. I really wish everything was open upstairs, but it's not. I'm trying to make it work with what we have.
