Fireplace centering

I am putting a gas fireplace in my great room. I have a door on the wall going into the bedroom on the right side of the fireplace. How do I center fireplace? There will be shelves on each side of the fireplace. Do I center the fireplace on the wall including the door? or Do I center on the wall excluding the door?
Center on the wall of the over all room including the door.
Center on the wall starting at the beginning of the door.
