I am in the process of removing 3 redwood trees within 4 feet of my pool deck. They create constant mess with needles and have lifted the deck in 2 spots. I live in an old house in the zone 9b and also have 3 large fruitless pear trees that drop berries and leaves (those may come out later). I need to replace the redwoods with something that creates privacy and can fit into a width of approximately 5-6 feet. The hedge would be approximately 30-35 feet long. Any ideas? I am looking for minimal mess around the pool and privacy along the fence. I keep seeing tips for arborvitae, false cypress or skyrocket juniper.
