Basement Remodel Paint

Hi Houzz, I’m redoing/updating my basement and am trying to pick the paint color for the walls. I started out in search of a gray, only to find out how complicated that can be.

I’ve sort of narrowed it down to these — not sure if going too light or being too similar to the floor is a good or bad idea. Would love suggestions.

Basement does not get natural light save for two tiny windows. Finally have canned lighting, which will be the brightest source for light.

Will try to post a more updated photo of work done till now.

I know it’s very difficult with these photos — I do appreciate your advice!

Great "go to" colors are Sherwin Williams "Lotus Pod" if you like the creamy beige look, or "Crushed Ice" if you like grey tones. Good Accents or "darker" versions of those too are "Mexican Sand" or "Knitting Needles" - Happy Painting - CKHD

Thanks! That Crushed Ice looks great. I should mention, these are all BM paints on the wall. Guess I should’ve branched out, but this is what I’ve got so far.

The lighter the better. Try Classic Gray if you’re doing BM, it’s a nice light neutral gray.

Thanks, Karen. I was thinking lighter, so it’s good to have that advice. The lightest I have in those pics that I’m growing fond of is White Wisp.

The secret for a basement is the artificial lighting. Plenty of cans and sconces on dimmers was our solution. Then you can select colors that will liven the space. In the attached photos of ours we have used color to define individual areas with-in a great room concept.

I love the light greige you have in the pics. Edgecomb Gray BM is nice. I would stay away from the blue/grays.
