It really depends on what part of north Texas you live in, east Texas tends to have acidic soil, vs west Texas and the Rio Grande Valley tend to have calcareous soil, I think the dividing line for this runs through the DFW metroplex, but I am not sure of the specific details. This is related to the divide between popular root stocks for Florida vs California, as California tends to have calcareous soil, where Florida tends to be more acidic to neutral.

In general Trifoliate root stocks perform better in acidic soils

I grow in containers, so I can control my soil pH. I did hear that trifoliate tends to have a dwarfing effect, making it a better choice for containers? Is this true?

Flying dragon or trifoliata would offer much more cold resistance than Seville. Seville will suffer from Triteza if it is exposed.
