I'll let the professional kitchen designers weigh in on symmetry, etc. but I'd consider two things: First, having too many glass cabinets can be impractical because you need to keep things in them very neat, and ideally they look best showing off china or glasswear. So just make sure you have enough places to put your cereal and pasta boxes and such. Second, having them too near the cooktop can be a problem for keeping the glass clean (even with the best of hood fans).

Some things to consider: How tidy are you? How much stuff do you really want to display? Have you considered frosted versus clear?

When I redo my kitchen, I will only do glass fronts for cabinets that will hold my wine & champagne glasses & I will put lights & glass shelves in them.

It's YOUR kitchen. Don't worry about rules, just think about what makes you happy & what will be functional.
I would hate the dust catching plate racks in your plan & the open shelves by the sink which appear to short to be of much use, but then again, this is YOUR kitchen, not mine... I've horribly envious of your immense storage.

I'm glad you're open to tweaking a bit. I like symmetry too - if it were me I'd probably just do large glass cabinets on either side of the sink as in this photo.

I'm working on something similar now and wondered what you decided? Even more odd, I'm leaning toward using 20" tall cabinets with glass fronts for all of the uppers because I can put all the food items into the pantry so they will only store dishes/glasses & such. Will that make the space look clean & airy? Or, weird cause I'm not going with 45" tall cabinetry that seems to be the current trend? How did yours turn out? Do you still like it?
