last modified: 7 years ago

Hello Houzz community,Good morning and blessed Sunday!I am trying to redo my dining room to make it more lively and less boring. I have a big blink wall on the left and thinking about decorate it with the botanical pictures in the picture, but I'm not sure if the frame mat goes well with the color or I should change it to a lighter ones:) . Also I need to redecorate the buffet table as it is quite funny-looking at this time. Any ideas will be appreciated!Have a blessed day!Natalie!

The pictures would work. It looks like you are trying to do elegant, not lively. The rug is too small. The back legs of the chairs would not be on it when sitting at the table. The buffet looks like an altar with the cloth and lamps. I think another art piece would be better than the mirror. Or the prints could go over the buffet and a large art work to add more drama to the big wall.

It works if you really want everything in the room to be dark brown and cream. I'd rather see you bring in an accent color, even if you want "elegant, not lively." I fear this might be a bit stiff.

I personally love the botanical prints a lot. The picture frames were only $8 each brought from Michael's yesterday :)

I think the prints look well with the colors in the room. Keep in mind that computer monitors do not give true colors, so it is possible we are not seeing the true colors, but it all seems to go together.

Keep a look out for some colorful landscapes - or one larger one, possibly an original art piece. Some original art can be found on Etsy for a reasonable price. A lake or ocean sunset would go with the calmness of the room but add some colors - if you like that sort of thing. Canvas art prints of more expensive originals can also be found for a reasonable price. This would be in addition to the botanicals, not instead of them.

Thank you so much for sharing your feedback and really appreciate it:)!

I have some 1800s woodcut biblical prints framed by framer which I think might be better to be placed in a more private room( library) than in a opened dining area... I also customed -made a canvas print which came from a picture that i had taken from a bridge at budapest Hungary...love all of them but later felt that it might not go went im the dining room....my indecisveness!

Mushroom, begin by hanging the botanicals. Your are thinking two rows of three? How wide is each botanical and how long is your table? If you are keeping the mirror, hang it on the wall before you put up the botanicals. This will give us a first height reference in the room to gauge the height of other selections.

Mushroom, is it best for you to focus on one thing at a time or do you prefer a "check list", knowing what is ahead? We are all so different, as I personally focus on one thing. I can multi-task but I'm just not a fan of it! LOL

Hang the botanicals. Lose the vase of sticks. Get a larger rug or eliminate it altogether. Here are some options for over the buffet.

Wow!! Wonderful idea and the round mirror looks better!! The big floral canvas art goes really well also. Thanks so much the suggestions and helps a lot ! :D

Hi Karen :)! The mat of botanical print picture is 11x 14" and the molding of the frames are probably 2.5 inches, which made it approx. 14x17 inches.

Oh i have to go home and measure the dimension of the table :p

Probably 2 rows of three will be wonderful ! If possible

Hang them exactly as Grover has done...Perfect! Also, it appears your only other wall for art is over the buffet? I very much like Grover's #3 proposal. Love the color of it. What do you think or do you still want to remain with the neutrals?

I think i might get a large-sized print or a round mirror for the buffet cabinet. Humm maybe neutral color ..maybe also change the lamps....these lamps were twenty years ago from the garage...lol

    Crystal lamps are nice :)
