They used the wrong parts or something? The whole point of the pedestal is to hide the plumbing.

If your contractor did that, they'll have to correct it. Also, check anything else that the contractor worked on. E.g. if there was a new shower, were the walls appropriately water-proofed?

The plumber didn't know it was going to be a pedestal? It needs a couple of hundred on a rework using the decorative metal plumbing.

Who told the plumber what to do? You don’t just ‘end up’ with something unless there was no communication. Or poor communication. You have room for a vanity with storage. That may be your better solution as to do this right means rework of plumbing height and fittings and drywall patch and paint.

I have a similar sink ...I don't understand why you have such a great distance and why the cable is black....which makes it worse ....

The rough ins are installed at the standard height for cabinets, they should have been installed much higher for the pedestal. Minimally have the plumber replace the flexible stainless steel supplies with rigid chrome.
