There's something off about the proportion of the height of the mattress and the height of the base. And if you used a thinner mattress, it wouldn't work either.

The first picture Jan posted is exactly what I would do for "rustic glam" with this headboard. Love the blush pink and fur combo.

Thank you all for your suggestions! I've ordered this bedding https://www.macys.com/shop/product/dkny-city-pleat-white-bedding-collection?ID=2838201 to keep it neutral and plan (hope!) to dress it up with some faux fur throws etc. It arrives in a few days. I'll let you know how it looks!
