What I've been doing this weekend

A few years ago I bought this pattern by designer Carla Klop. It's called a Shortcut Sheet and has her take on shortcuts in cutting and assembly to make the pattern easier and/or quicker to assemble.

I made this top with two yards of fabric. It's 40" square. It did go together quickly (I started yesterday morning and finished this afternoon). It requires a lot of cutting, sewing, cutting up the sewn pieces and resewing. The border is made from pieces left over after cutting the star points. I don't really care for it, but I didn't have enough fabric to do something else. The pattern also calls for sewing units then trimming them down to size, which I didn't like due to the fabric waste.

So, I probably won't make this one again, but at least it's one project out of my UFO box, and I do like Hunter Star. :)
