Barb, speaking as a closet designer--you design has too many sections and not fully utilizing the space.

1) How tall is your son

2) what size shoe does he wear?

What is is the width of the dble doors? Getting drawers in that space is tricky.

Having drawers in the closet is a challenge because the clearance is tight with the double doors and the awkward framing of the doors (I believe you called it dead space)

I would nix the drawer idea and have 3 sections on 16" D Panels. That way your son's shoes will fit. 12"D panels are too shallow for mens' shoes

If you have a Container Store nearby, head in that direction. Their Elfa closet systems are on sale for 30% off. I believe that includes installation. They do design.

2) It's not a hit piece it's a statement of fact. Elfa is a plastic product with a very high markup. I get the Container Store catalog at home I see the prices against an industry price book.

I've been working in this industry for 6 years. Regardless if I am in a 100,000 condo or a 3 mil + home the one thing in common is price of the closet drives the decision 95% of the time.

So if a consumer loves the look of Elfa I say go for it. But if a consumer is more concerned about price and quality --I say for that person needs to do some research. Just because a product is 30% doesn't mean its the best price. Have Elfa quote it have a local closet company quote it. Be an informed consumer.
