Agree with the above. I live in Australia, and lever handles are the norm here. Much easier to use than knobs, even if you don't have arthritis.

DH and I stayed at a hotel recently with a barn door for the bathroom. I disliked it, it was hard to get moving, and it made a rumbling noise.

Nothing is easier than a lever handle. On a bad day, even an elbow could open it : ) And a foot could close it. In No senior living facility, can you even FIND a round knob.

Barn doors are not at all aging in place friendly. They allow light, sounds, and smells to pass as though there were not even a door there.

A barndoor is not any easier to use than a pocket door. Lever handles are the go to even for looks but with arthritis a must.

Agree. I have been using lever handles for a long time in my own homes and for clients. Love them. Just make sure you get the right style for easiest use. Go to a showroom that has dummy mock ups and check them out. The barn door craze has just about run its course. Not good for a bedroom or any "private" area.
